Sucess Stories
For space reasons we only include some of our success stories. However we do believe that most of our projects are successful and we are endeavouring to make our best to ensure that every case is a success story.

Mahmood has a nursery for plants in a rural CDA. He received two loans, the first one of LE 2500 and the second of LE 5000. He had this activity before receiving the loans but through them he succeeded in expanding it and almost doubled his monthly income. He also created employment and he now employs two labourers and one technician in agricultural plants. Before the loans he employed only one labourer. Mohammed is now willing to ask for an additional loan from the Market Oriented Component.

Mona is a 39-year-old woman living with her three children of 19,15 and 7 years old and her 85-year-old mother. As her husband abandoned her three years ago, she had to start working in order to support the entire family. Therefore she began making and selling bread with the help of an old woman, working from 6 a.m. until 2 p.m. When she heard about PAP, she asked for a LE 1000 loan and bought a new oven and an amount of flour and yeast. Through the loan Mona has almost doubled her income, improved the quality of the bread and created a new job opportunity, as two women are now helping her in the activity.

Marzouqa has a small shop in which she sells groceries. She works with her youngest daughter from 6.30 a.m. to 12 p.m. She started taking loans from PAP a year ago by borrowing LE 2,500. She started working to help her husband with the expenses for their four children's education. One of them is now in university. "I take from my project's income to increase it more and more". Her increased steady income helped her to pay back the monthly instalments to the project and to pay the interest as well. Since the first year is over, she hopes to start another activity to sell clothes.

Gaber is a 27-year-old man, married with two children. He makes plastic carpet beaters and works about 12 hours per day. Every item costs him 35 piasters and is sold for LE 2. With the two loans that he received from PAP (LE 1500 and LE 2500), he enlarged the activity which was previously very small and bought additional material. After the loans, the profit increased of 50 per cent and the number of people who work for him increased from two to five people. Now that he has more income, his family expenses have almost doubled. He painted the house, he bought a new bedroom and they are now eating more meat. He is willing to ask for a larger loan from the Market Oriented component.

Madiha is a 37-year-old woman. She is married and has 3 children. She received two loans from PAP, the first one of LE 2500 and the second of LE 3500. Through the loans she bought a machine to make tame'ya and opened a shop to sell it. She also sells ful (black beans) and bread. Before opening the shop, she wasn't working and spent her time at home looking after the house and the children. Her husband has a grocery shop next to her. She works very hard. She started this activity because she wanted to help her husband and improve the standard of living of their children. Through her activity, she can now afford to pay the doctor, to buy more school items for her children and to ameliorate their house. She saves 30 per cent of her profit in a gameya because she wants to be prepared for any circumstance. She feels much better now because everything is more secure and because she can guarantee a better life to her children. She has a dream for the future: to ask for an additional loan and start making sandwiches and open a small restaurant. Her husband also would like to ask for a loan to open a bakery.

Sanad is 47-year-old man married to a 40-year-old woman, with five children. He makes plastic tubes and through the two loans that he received from PAP (LE 2000 and LE 3500), he consistently enlarged his activity, bought a large quantity of additional raw material and raised his income. Before the loan the profit was very low and he had to be very careful about every expense. Now instead he can cover all the education expenses for his children and one of them is studying law in university. Before when he or the other members of his family fell sick, he had to ask for money to his relatives to go to the doctor and this made him feel unease. Now he does not have to worry any more and he can pay the doctor and the medicines. Sanad is now thinking of asking for another loan of LE 10,000 from the Market Oriented Component.
