Training
PAP
does consider credit alone as not sufficient to achieve a sustainable human
development. Poverty is much more than lack of income but rather a form of
deprivation, resulting in vulnerabilities and perpetuation of inequalities
between women and men, rural and urban, developed and underdeveloped regions
and the different ethnic groups. Financial assistance
without training cannot be a useful tool for poverty alleviation interventions.
Our approach to training is meant to be a proactive one, in order to meet
the challenges faced in an effective, consistent and coherent manner.
Training
activities are dividend in four main categories, each addressing a particular
group of stakeholders. In order to get the outmost benefit, we use different
sources of training providers, such as internal resources of the Program,
as on the job training, and external training providers.
Program's
Staff
The Program's staff has been addressed right after the Programs start in 1998.
Main objectives were to provide competencies and skills to our staff to implement,
monitor, follow up and evaluate the activities with the outmost effectiveness
and efficiency.
Training
of the Community Development Associations
(CDA)
CDA Training started in 1999 with a particular focus on the members of the
Loan and the Purchase Committee. The training wants to provide the CDAs with
the necessary skills to manage effectively the Revolving Fund and to reach
self sustainability.
The Program has developed a comprehensive training plan which should be implemented
in the course of next year. It focuses on fund raising, community need assessment
and managerial and financial skills enhancement. Foreseen are 190 training
days for 52 CDAs members. Up to november 2000, PAP has trained 31 CDAs members.
Beneficiaries
Training
The training of the Loan Beneficiaries started in 1999. Its main objective
is to support them in increasing their income through non financial support.
Main achievements in this field have been the trainings provided on book keeping
systems, marketing, veterinary services, mushroom raising, carpentry training
and support to gender related issues.
Up to november 2000, 595 beneficiaries have been trained for a total of 171
training days.
MISA
Training
Training for MISA staff started at a later phase and is an integral part of
the future action training plan of the Program. The aim of the training is
to provide MISA personnel with the appropriate tools to facilitate their job.
Within this training, MISA staff benefited of Computer and English courses.
